58th FITASC European Championship – Most, Czech Republic
58th FITASC European Championship – Most, Czech Republic
From May 22–25, the 58th FITASC European Championship was held at the scenic Hipodrome in Most, Czech Republic, a venue that impressed with its wide-open views and well-prepared grounds. All four WOCS ambassadors were present and competed across the four days at what turned out to be a technically demanding and weather-influenced event.
Course & Conditions
As expected from a European Championship, the target setting was of a high standard, with each layout offering challenging angles and thoughtfully placed presentations. The weather played a role, with conditions changing throughout the day. Shooters could find themselves under sunshine one minute and light rain the next, with wind becoming a factor, particularly on the second and final day, affecting target flight and consistency.
From a logistical perspective, some of the walking distances between layouts were quite demanding, especially in certain areas of the venue. While manageable for most, it posed a challenge for older shooters or those with reduced mobility. Although full-size buses were available for shuttle transport, a smaller, more flexible transport setup could have made access between layouts easier.
Also worth mentioning was the limited number of toilets near the layouts. While mobile toilets were provided, having a few more spread throughout the course would have been a welcome sight, especially given the number of participants and the overall venue size.
Practice & Pool Shoot
Practice was available as early as Monday, with six Sporting layouts and one Compak layout open for warm-ups. Early in the week, waiting times were minimal, allowing plenty of space to get rounds in. As the event drew closer and more shooters arrived, queues began to build, especially on Wednesday.
On Wednesday afternoon, the pool shoot opened with a progressively difficult target sequence. It remained available for the duration of the event, giving shooters a chance to stay sharp and take on extra challenges outside the main competition.
Opening Ceremony
The official opening ceremony took place on Wednesday evening, with all teams and individual competitors gathered at the Hipodrome to represent their countries. Following the ceremony, shooters received their bib numbers, layout assignments, and start times for Thursday’s main event kickoff.
