NSCA Continues Conversations with FITASC Over "Super Sporting"
Date: September 24, 2024
The National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) has released an updated statement regarding its ongoing discussions with FITASC following the latter’s decision to ban “Super Sporting” events, announced on September 4, 2024. The NSCA is working towards a resolution that would allow the continuation of “Super Sporting” without the restrictions proposed by FITASC. Here’s what we know so far.
Key Updates from the NSCA Statement:
Ongoing Conversations: The NSCA is continuing discussions with FITASC about the “Super Sporting” matter. The NSCA remains optimistic about achieving a successful outcome that will support the continued operation of all Super Sporting events as well as NSCA FITASC events.
NSCA FITASC Events Not Sanctioned by FITASC: The NSCA clarified that NSCA FITASC events have never been officially sanctioned by FITASC, meaning no fees are paid to FITASC for these events. This could further protect NSCA-run events from any potential bans or sanctions FITASC imposes.
Only Certain Events Sanctioned by FITASC: The NSCA reiterated that the only FITASC-sanctioned events in the U.S. where fees are paid to FITASC are:
- The North American FITASC Championship
- The two FITASC Grand Prix events
- The World FITASC Championship
For all other events, including Super Sporting, no FITASC fees are involved.
Additional Updates to Come: The NSCA has promised to provide further information as discussions with FITASC continue and new details become available.
What Does This Mean for Shooters?
Events Continue as Usual: For the moment, all Super Sporting events and NSCA FITASC events will continue to operate as they have, without interruption or restrictions.
No Immediate Penalties: Since NSCA FITASC events are not sanctioned by FITASC, shooters who participate in them should not face penalties or sanctions, unlike the potential risks with other FITASC-recognized events.
Potential for Resolution: NSCA’s optimistic tone suggests that a positive resolution could be reached, allowing shooters to continue participating in both NSCA and FITASC events without concerns over conflicting rules.
