Event Review: Rheinland-Pfalz Cup 2026 – Tough Conditions, Strong Event

Weather Challenges from the Start

Last weekend, three of our ambassadors traveled to Germany for the second edition of the Rheinland-Pfalz Cup, a two-day 200 target competition that is quickly establishing itself as a solid fixture on the calendar.

Conditions were far from ideal. Saturday brought constantly changing weather, including cold winds and even snow at times, making it a real test for all shooters. Sunday was an improvement, staying mostly dry, but the cold remained a factor throughout the day.

Despite this, the competition carried on well, and the atmosphere among shooters remained positive.

Course & Shooting Format

The targets were well set, offering a fair and enjoyable challenge across both days. During the overnight break, the team made adjustments to the layouts, which kept things fresh for day two and showed good attention to detail from the organizers.

Shooting was done using the “in line” system, which worked well given the number of participants and the use of two layouts. Overall, the flow of the competition was smooth.

There was a short delay on the second day due to a power issue affecting one of the scoring systems, but this was handled quickly by the team, allowing the competition to continue without major disruption.

Venue & Atmosphere

The shooting ground itself is something special. Tucked away next to a quarry, it offers a unique setting, with the terrain being used effectively in the course design. One standout target was thrown off a cliff, making full use of the natural surroundings.

To escape the harsh weather, a heated tent was available for shooters between rounds, which was a welcome addition throughout the weekend. Catering was also well taken care of, with a food truck serving local game dishes and a wide selection of homemade cakes that were as good as they looked.

Final Thoughts & Highlights

Despite the challenging weather, the Rheinland-Pfalz Cup delivered a strong overall experience. The organization handled conditions well, the targets were enjoyable, and the venue added something unique to the competition.

To top it off, a raffle featuring several sponsored items was held, with the grand prize being a brand-new Browning shotgun.

A special congratulations to our ambassador Hendrick, who secured the win for the second year in a row, along with all other prize winners.
